Travel Much?

Travel Much?

I haven’t traveled much lately, and the last time I went on a real vacation, I stayed at a quaint little bed and breakfast. So maybe I’m a little out of touch with the usual mainstream hotel decor. I seem to remember the little complimentary bottles of shampoo and conditioner, lotion and bubble bath. I remember the paper wrapped soaps, the cute little triangle folds on the toilet paper, and the neatly folded fluffy white towels.

I used to collect the complimentary stuff. I’d bring my own big bottles of shampoo and conditioner, but I’d stow the free little bottles in my luggage anyway, for later use. My favorite perk is the cleaning service. I’m always cleaner than usual when I stay at a hotel, but I love having the hotel maids clean up after me anyway. It’s nice coming into a spotless room after an active day out. Even nicer is if you’re at a hotel that leaves an after-dinner mint on your pillow.

But I’ve been looking at the Propeller Island City Lodge site, where they’ve got photos of all kinds of rooms there, from ones with coffins to ones with holes in the wall, and I can’t quite figure out what they would leave as complimentary toiletries or how the hotel maids would clean each room. For instance, where would they put the dinner mint in the upside-down room? Under the pillow? Does the Two Lions room come with complimentary go-go girls for the cages?

Interesting food for thought. I should plan a vacation soon.

  1. More importantly, do they provide complimentary Do Not Disturb posters to tape over the hole in the wall when you want some privacy?

  2. Speaking of travel, I just got back from Amsterdam and Berlin, and had a WONDERFUL time…. I’m a wee bit tired still, but am easing back into life…

  3. An amazing place. As a photographer, I would have a wonderful time there.
