Prince Valium (continued)
You want the princess for yourself.
After all, you went through all this trouble, cutting at the briars with a heavy sword, your arms sore.
Why should you have to give her up to someone else?
That princess is yours!
Silently, so you don't alert the squire, you make your way to the tower door.
Taking the steps two and three at a time, you climb the winding staircase to the top, noting distractedly the thick dust floating in the light from the occasional window.
When you reach the top, you see a man just now leaning torward a beautiful sleeping young woman.
By the look of him, he's another prince, like you.
But you are not about to let him kiss the princess.
"Don't even try it," you bark.
Startled, he straightens and watches you draw your sword.
"What are you going to do?" he asks.
Teeth bared in a menacing smile, you tell him, "I'll tell you what I won't do.
I won't let you have that princess for yourself.
Not after all the trouble I went through to get to her.
You try to kiss that princess, and I'll kill you."
"Now wait a minute!" the other prince protests.
He approaches you, his own sword hanging from his hand, seemingly forgotten.
"There's no need to be--"
You don't hear the rest of what he has to say.
With hardly a thought, you swing at him and kill him, effectively preventing him from getting at you with his own sword, or getting at the princess that belongs to you.
When he slumps to the floor, you realize what you've done, and shocked, you stand there for a moment, immobile.
You've just killed a prince, which could mean war if you were found out.
You don't have witnesses right now, but the boy is still down in the courtyard, and if you kiss the princess, there's no way you can hide the blood and the body.
What do you do?
