H.E. likes to watch TV late at night as I drift off to sleep, and sometimes I do that thing I do where words go in one ear and go out the other a completely changed creature. This time, H.E. is watching Robert Klein’s show on HBO, and Robert Klein’s doing that thing he does where he jokes and sings about politics and current events; he’s just an all-around funny and talented guy.<\/p>\n
I’m only half listening, of course, because \u2014 as I said \u2014\u00a0I’m drifting off to sleep. Then I wake up a little and have to ask a question because I can’t for the life of me figure out what current event Robert Klein is singing about. “What is he singing?” I ask.<\/p>\n
“Hm?” H.E. says.<\/p>\n
“What’s that he’s singing?” I ask again. “Legoland Rawanda?”<\/p>\n
H.E. starts to laugh, and then he laughs harder. “Yes, he’s singing about a tourist attraction somewhere in Africa.”<\/p>\n
“Well God knows they could use the tourism,” I say, and H.E. laughs even harder. Truth be told, I find it a little silly myself, but I can’t imagine what else Robert Klein could possibly be singing. It’s such a great melody, too \u2014\u00a0very laid back in a Rasta Jamaican kind of way. “Seriously, though,” I continue, “what is he singing if it isn’t Legoland Rawanda?”<\/p>\n
And then H.E. tells me:<\/p>\n
