Or Happy Testicle Day … whichever you celebrate. It’s been a while since I’ve added to the Mondegreens<\/a> category, but how apropos on this greenest of days.<\/p>\n

Last night, H.E. and I had dinner with some of his friends — two couples; I guess that made it a triple date, or a m\u00e9nage times two. It was pretty good conversation all around. H.E.’s friends are rather brilliant and funny, and I managed to keep up for most of it.<\/p>\n

There was only one moment where I had to do a double-take, twice. It was after the subject of the Swiss alpenhorn and talk of customs and celebrations on certain days. I’m not really sure because a phrase stuck out for me and distracted me from the rest that I had to interrupt the speaker at one point and ask:<\/p>\n

“I’m sorry. Did you just say testicle day?”<\/p>\n

“What?”<\/p>\n

“Testicle Day. Did you say ‘testicle day’?”<\/p>\n

Chuckles. He clarified, super enunciated for my benefit, since I sat way across the table from him. “Festival Day,” he said. “I said ‘Festival Day’.”<\/p>\n

“Oh,” I said, while everyone — including myself (until I was red in the face) — laughed and proceeded to joke the rest of the night about the long and well-kept traditions of Testicle Day.<\/p>\n

So … on this day, whether you shout “Kiss me. I’m Irish!” or “Suck my balls. It’s Testicle Day!” I hope you are having a fantabulous holiday.<\/p>\nShare this post:
