I’m attending my friend Janine’s wedding this weekend. Her second marriage, my second time actually meeting her in person. H.E. has always chided me for having more out-of-town or virtual friends than I have local or real friends, and now it seems I only get to meet my out-of-town friends when they get married. I’ll get to meet Minnie<\/a> in person when she gets married in September this year.<\/p>\n

I’ve probably met more of H.E.’s friends than I’ve met mine. But H.E.’s the sort of guy who seriously keeps his friends. Forever. While I’ve lost touch with a lot of my school friends, he still regular talks with his on the phone. And he’s met 99.9% of his friends, unlike me. They’re also from all wakes of life, many of them in “the business” and extremely talented or smart in some special way. I don’t know how he does it. Many of the people I meet and befriend are average, normal people, many of whom might aspire to greatness. Whereas many of H.E.’s friends and acquaintances have already achieved greatness of some sort, such that if I were to drop names, many of even my most accomplished friends would drop their jaws and squee.<\/p>\n

But here I sit, contemplating my to do list before I fly to see one of the few good friends I have. I’ve known Janine since I was 9 years old, when we found each other through a pen pal service. We’ve known each other almost a quarter of a century, and this will be only the second face-to-face meeting. Both times, ironically enough, were funded by H.E., the great ambassador of friendship. He’s funding my trip to see Minnie’s wedding as well.<\/p>\n

Anyway, I’ll be out of town through Sunday.<\/p>\nShare this post:
