On my third full day in Perth, I took a second full day tour. It stopped for a bit at Caversham Wildlife Park<\/a>, so I have some photos of me feeding and petting a kangaroo<\/a>, cradling a coarse-haired wombat in my lap<\/a>, and petting a sleepy koala. Then it was a lot of driving, a lunch in Cervantes, and a lot more driving, until we came to Nambung National Park, home of the Pinnacles<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was hot there and bright, the puffy white clouds so blindingly white. I nearly had a heatstroke and lost my group walking across some of it, but I couldn’t stop taking photos. It was beautiful, but believe me, you do not<\/em> want to get lost there. And flies. The flies are annoying; they made me wish I had bought an expensive hat I’d seen in a souvenir shop in downtown Perth, with pieces of cork hanging from strings along the brim. Or a fly net. I should have brought a fly net. As it was, I found myself constantly doing the Australian salute<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Anyway, the Pinnacles were kind of cool. I think some of my best pictures in the entire trip were taken there. The guide encouraged us to look at each pinnacle with imagination and see what we could see. I saw a couple with a newborn<\/a>, a kangaroo<\/a>, and an elephant<\/a>, and the guide made sure he pointed out a particular rock formation to me, and when I saw it, I laughed out loud and said, “Oh, my! That’s a great<\/em> rocketship<\/a>!”<\/p>\n

And yes, I know. It doesn’t really look like rocketship. It looks more like a silo.<\/p>\n
