Last time I’d been in Maryland, it had a late fall so that I could see the autumn leaves. This time, it had an early winter so that I could see the cold and snow. I was born on a Pacific island, and I’ve lived in Southern California nearly all of my life, so I’m not accustomed to 20-40 degree weather, but I actually liked it. I was warm enough in my pseudo pashmina, boating jacket (no, I don’t actually boat), and ski cap. It was exhilirating going from heated home or motel room to the biting cold of the outside and back again. I felt rosy-cheeked and alive, and I think I even got accustomed to it as I watched falling snow for the very first time. On the last night, I even walked around in the snow-covered town by the airport without<\/em> my jacket, happily snapping pictures and feeling pretty warm and comfortable.<\/p>\n

And when I came home to Huntington Beach and its 20-degree-higher, sunny-sky weather … that’s<\/em> when I really shivered with cold and said, “Brrr!”<\/p>\n
