I’m alive. Just barely. I’ve been working and reading, and I haven’t really had the time to post much of anything. Mostly I’ve been making myself physically and emotionally available to H.E., who has had a much rougher year than I have had so far.<\/p>\n

I have more magazine illustrations to post, and if you’ve been watching my other site, Graphicfantastic<\/a>, you know that I’ve been churning the book covers out, too.<\/p>\n

In other news, the company where I work (my day job) has been recently bought out and is now under new management. So, technically, I have not broken my record of change as of yet. What record is that? Well, since 1995, I have had either a new job or a new apartment at least once every single year. And this year, this month actually, I was fired from the company that hired me the same day. Thank goodness I got to keep my seniority. And thank goodness I got this year’s change out of the way.<\/p>\n

I know I owe many of you e-mail. If I haven’t written back in three months, please write again. I have my inbox timed out now to keep my server and hard drive lean.<\/p>\n

What books have I been reading lately? The last five were:<\/p>\n

Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle<\/em> (almost finished)
\nSheri S. Tepper’s The Family Tree<\/em> (I highly recommend this one!)
\nRay Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451<\/em> (the 50th anniversary edition)
\nGraham Greene’s The Quiet American<\/em> (I recommend this one, too)
\nRomance at the Edge: In Other Worlds<\/em> (an anthology for which I did the cover — I’ve been buying print copies of the books for which I’ve done covers)<\/p>\n

I wish Jane Austen were still alive and writing. I’d definitely buy more of her books. I’ve already read them all and am in such a need for another fix that I’m willing to read a Pride and Prejudice<\/em> sequel written years<\/em> after her death<\/a> or even watch the silly Jane Austen’s Mafia<\/a> again.<\/p>\n
