I got it from someone who,
\nWhen they touched the doorknob,
\nI did, too.
\nThe virus went from nose to hand,
\nAnd by the doorknob, hand to hand.
\nFrom my hand up to my nose
\nWent the virus. There it goes,
\nThrough my nose and down my throat.
\nI started talking like a goat,
\nCoughing, sneezing, aching, wheezing.
\nPlease don’t joke; I hate the teasing,
\nRunny nose and gooey phlegm,
\nGreat ACHOO and small AHEM.
\nI can’t wait to get much better.
\nMeanwhile, hanky’s getting wetter.<\/p>\n

[N.B.—I’m not feeling sick, but quite a few of my friends are or have been just recently, so I thought I’d dig this out and dedicate it to them. I first wrote this back in August 1991, and it’s clear to me now that while growing up I read far too much Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein. Yes, yes, I know I have to break the cycle of abuse.
