I was at Mission Beach today, and I could not fathom for the life of me why traffic was so light on my drive there and why there were plenty of parking spaces at Belmont Park. It was the weekend, after all, and even on cool, gloomy days like today was there’s usually a lot more people around. It took me a while to realize, oh yeah, they’re at home getting ready to watch the game.<\/p>\n

By the time I got home, the game was over, and apparently it was a really good one.<\/p>\n

I’ll take everyone’s word for it.<\/p>\n

It’s odd, though. I was a cheerleader in high school and college and therefore went to all the school football games, but as a grown woman I don’t care a fig for football. Not a single whit.<\/p>\n

I mean, I’ll watch it if I’m with a group of people, and they’re all watching it as a main event, and I understand how the game is played, can even cheer for the favorite team, and so on, but it just doesn’t excite me nearly as much as it might excite the average person.<\/p>\n

The Super Bowl \u2014 the BIG game \u2014 is no exception to that.<\/p>\n

That said, I do understand how big a deal it is to people in general \u2014\u00a0to Americans, anyway. So I didn’t bat an eye when a couple of weeks ago, one of my friends posted on Facebook the following:<\/p>\n

My best friend has 2 tickets for the 2017 Superbowl. She paid $2,000 for both tickets, but she didn’t realize last year when she bought them, it was going to be the same day as her wedding. If you are interested, she is looking for someone to take her place. It’s @ 3pm at the Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. His name is Trevor, he is 6’2″ and about 220 pounds and really good looking. He’ll be the one in the black tuxedo with the lavender bow tie.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Of course, not caring about the Super Bowl, I totally volunteered to take her place at the chapel, but she never replied to my comment.<\/p>\nShare this post:
