I saw the five-day weather forecast earlier today, and I am not a happy camper. I begin moving to my new apartment on Friday, and we’re supposed to have rain this weekend. Rain!<\/p>\n

I can see it now—water pouring down from the sky, soaking the movers and my boxes of stuff, my furniture, and my computer equipment!<\/p>\n

I can see it now—everyone running to move the stuff from the apartment to the truck, or from the truck to the aparment, in as little time as possible to keep the drenching to a minimum, and they’re slipping, slip-sliding away, falling prone, with the boxes flying out of their hands, down one story, crashing on the pavement, crinkling the cardboard box corners, breaking the glass, the porcelain, the china, the electronics, or whatnot inside, smashing into tiny little itty bitty pieces and getting airbone, to land in Gerda’s friend Kay’s eyes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I can see it now—me stressing out about wet and muddy boxes and feet making tracks all over the steam-cleaned carpet, freaking out the cat who is frantically scratching grooves into every smooth surface with which she comes into contact, meowing like crazy and pissing or pooping her unhappiness on every inch of floor and bed.<\/p>\n

Yeah… I’m not too optimistic right now. Rain at a wedding is good luck<\/a>. Rain during a move is a nightmare. I’m almost inclined to chant and do a rain-go-away dance, but I know that resistance is futile.<\/p>\n

The best I can hope for is virga<\/a>. No, really.<\/p>\n
