Two years ago, I took up guitar lessons. A year after that, I tried songwriting for the first time. These are the lyrics to the first song I ever wrote, based off a poem I wrote two lifetimes ago.<\/p>\n

Poetry<\/h2>\n

Verse 1<\/strong>
\nI like alliteration, linking letters line by line,
\nAnd making music that you marvel at the movement and the rhyme.
\nWe often wonder at the work that went into these words,
\nAnd contemplate the cool, creative cadence in each verse.<\/p>\n

Chorus<\/strong>
\nPoetry for the sake of line breaks is a lie.
\nIt\u2019s really all about the ear and not about the eye.<\/p>\n

Verse 2<\/strong>
\nI seek some syncopation, where the basic beat\u2019s off-beat,
\nAnd the rhythm really rocks you, knocks you neatly off your feet.
\nIt behooves a bard to try real hard to sing with symmetry,
\nWhen putting pen to paper and composing poetry.<\/p>\n

Chorus<\/strong>
\nPoetry for the sake of line breaks is a lie.
\nIt\u2019s really all about the ear and not about the eye.<\/p>\n

Verse 3<\/strong>
\nCraving consonance is clearly an addiction to the craft,
\nAnd heroic couplets with iambic feet are where it\u2019s at.
\nIf you understand \u201ctrochaic,\u201d \u201camphibrachic,\u201d and such terms,
\nThen you truly understand the craft of poetry with words.<\/p>\n

\nPoetry for the sake of line breaks is a lie.
\nIt\u2019s really all about the ear and not about the eye.<\/p>\n

Verse 4<\/strong>
\nSo jam in journals, junior. Play with prose and pretty words.
\nOver time you’ll find the rhymes and sing some songs you’ve never heard.
\nThen before you know it, you’re a poet, fine and fancy free.
\nSo put that pen to paper and compose some poetry.<\/p>\n
